About Me
I'm Doug Mills, I'm based in the small and picturesque town of Picton, at the top of New Zealand's South Island.
I started draughting in 1980, well before Computer Aided Draughting (CAD) came to New Zealand. Drawing boards, ink filled draughting pens and lots of erasers were the equipment that I honed my draughting skills on. Back then there were no Erase, Cut or Copy buttons - just a lot of manual editing and perhaps even a small amount of cursing! In 1985 I started using CAD on an Integraph Main Frame System and then in 1989 I switched to AutoCAD and started using PC's. This was before Windows became the dominant PC operating system and so AutoCAD (like a lot of other programmes) was DOS based. These days I run the latest version of AutoCAD and also have the ability to edit old scanned drawings with Raster Design software. For the last 25 years I provided Design Draughting services, mainly to the High Voltage Electricity industry. I have designed and drawn several Electricity Substations, ranging from 11,000 to 220,000 volts. |
